  I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Barry and Mark (Snooks Decorating) who have recently redecorated my home. Their work was top notch. I have an older property which required a significant amount of preparation before painting commenced, but it was all in the prep and the finished result I am totally delighted with.   Nothing but good things to say about Barry and Snooks. Am very pleased with the result. He is very careful with the furniture; covers everything to protect it, very understanding about access and just goes about his work. It's also great to have somebody you trust because they have been recommended by a friend, and you can go out and not worry about leaving him to take care of the house, knowing that he will lock up if he has to leave before you return.   We have used Barry and his team four times in the last 18 months, most recently to redecorate the outside of our house, a job which required a range of skills. Their work is of the highest standard and they charge a very reasonable rate. Barry and Mark are both highly skilled and professional and obviously take a great pride in their work.   Snooks decorating painted the exterior of our house in August 2022. We chose them because they were the only company approached wh provided a comprehensive quote. The others only gave a figure for labour and were more expensive. The work was carried out by Mark and Yan who set high standards and were polite and helpful throughout.   Snooks Decorating have recently decorated the complete outside of my house using scaffolding. This was a major task which involved replacing rotten wood in a number of places as it was very old and fascias. The house was built in 1939 and had only been decorated outside once in the last 26 years.The whole job had been completed in good time to a very high standard by the team. They were very helpful, pleasant and extremely efficient. I would strongly recommend Snooks Decorating and have no hesitation in using them myself again.

  Barry and Yan decorated our hallway and 3 other rooms including woodwork and doors. We were very pleased with his prompt response all round, in looking at the job in the first place and his quoting and completion of the job. We had to wait a few weeks for him to be able to start due to his workload, but we saw this as a positive if he was this busy, and it was worth the wait for the professional and tidy service!Would highly recommend.

  All seemed well at first but on closer inspection a lot of missed gloss was found, not a problem, when Barry returned with the replacement lamp, (but not the expensive vase), both of which had been accidentally broken, I asked for some of the gloss used as there were places that needed touching up and I would be happy to do it. I feel that may have touched a nerve as I also asked for a quote for painting several outside walls, the paint was left on the doorstep a few days later and no quote materialised. … [read more]

  The reason for the late review ( job done in February – almost £3,000 ) is that the paint on the top of the stair posts has totally peeled off revealing the poor standard of preparation and unsuitable paint used. Friends using the guest bathroom last week, managed to pull the towel rail loose at one end, on close inspection it had obviously been pulled off recently and the hole filled with decorators caulk (not very suitable for putting rawl plugs into as it never sets hard!) In conclusion we found the decorators used by Snooks were very affable and seemed to be doing a good job. As detailed above there were in retrospect a lot of failings and for that reason I am rating Snooks very poor and am sad to say I would not recommend them.

  Barry and his team transformed our kitchen beyond recognition.They removed ornamentation from dated pine units, professionally repaired and painted the cabinets, walls and tiles.   Worth the wait! Barry and his team have transformed our hall stairs and landing. They patiently removed endless layers of paint and paper and filled and sanded to create a smooth surface we did not think achievable without replastering. (This a very old house so quite a challenge)Barry is also a good carpenter so can repair and replace as he goes along. Excellent service look forward to the next project.

  Barry restored the woodwork of my windows and doors (some of it was quite rotten) and painted all of the exterior of my house (woodwork and drainpipes) which took about 4 weeks.   Barry’s quote was 20% more expensive than his nearest competitor, but I felt happy with his demeanour and easy laid back approach whilst looking at the job. Today, I would recommend him in a heartbeat. The contract was a huge lounge, bathroom and bedroom and I could not fault his preparation of the walls and woodwork, our carpets and furnishings were PROFESSIONALLY protected and the overall finish was outstanding.   Barry painted our hall, stairs, landing and dining room. Immaculate work – I found no sign of the numerous holes from our repositioned curtain pole. Inspired (and before my husband could protest) I stripped our bedroom wallpaper, knowing Barry would come to the rescue. I’m SO pleased with his work. Self-sufficient in food and drink, he quietly gets on with it, leaving you to go about your business. You hardly know he’s there. i highly recommend him. He’s very personable, professional and reliable – and reasonably priced.

  Barry restored the outside of my property – which is wood clad with plenty of overhangs. He was also very good at plastering and rendering – all painted to match the colour of the existing masonry. Barry was very, very good, and very reasonable.
