  David has been coming to us for nearly two years. He tamed and has kept in order our very energetic wisteria, and tends fruit trees, (bumper crops!) and roses, among other things. He is a committed plantsman and very generous with his expertise, (I pick his brains shamelessly). Good with children and guinea pigs, and, very importantly, always punctual! We could not do without him.

  David Payne has completed the most fabulous garden design and planting for my 75 foot border.He and his assistant Jonathan worked tirelessly with great skill and precision on a most difficult soil improving it’s condition before planting,The once barren area has been transformed into the most colourful and beautifully textured tapestry.I absolutely love it and cannot stop admiring it … even adding an imposing birdbath to guild the final vision.Thank you so much for giving me so much joy !David loves designing and planting and it shows in his work.I cannot recommend him highly enough.He will work wonders for… [read more]

  We have used David Payne several times and have always found him helpful, knowledgeable and so pleasant. We cannot fault the standard of his work or the care he takes. He has pruned and felled trees for us, removing all arisings and leaving everywhere tidy. I’m always happy to recommend him as I know he will do a good job at a reasonable cost.

  David Payne is a very knowledgeable and experienced gardener. He has worked for us for some four years. Firstly in a jointly owned garden which had been seriously neglected for a number of years. He tackled the daunting task of pruning overgrown shrubs, eliminating pervasive bamboo and removal of perennial weeds in 14 separate beds, plus regular grass cutting with energy and significant horticultural skill.   David is really hard working and very intelligent – he knows what he is talking about, and knows all the latin names for the plants. He has lots of ideas but he listens to us and takes on board what we want, rather than inflicting his idea on us.

  David helps us with the garden three hours a week to supplement our own efforts. He is very obliging and his work is good. He is a plantsman – so he knows that to do, when, and he provides good advice on what to plant, where. If he can’t come he’ll let us know, and he is happy for us to help him.
