The majority of water supplied to homes in East Devon is sourced from a network of bore-holes and aquifers and hardness levels can vary greatly from town to town, or street to street. Our water softener installation was made very tricky by an odd position of water inlet; Hayden solved the various issues in a quiet confident way and gave advice to help keep the necessary modifications nice looking and functional. We did a review just after our water softener installation which was too early.Now three months down the line, the differences are incredible. No constant deferring of kettle, bath cleans itself, saving on cleaning products, shampoos. The water has a total different feel. It has been some weeks since Hayden installed a water softener and filter at my house.Once installed, it take a couple of days for old hard water to disappear, leaving a different, smoother ‘textured” water in its place.Prior to having this installed, scaling was the norm…the kettle, the shower (including tiles) and taps all showed pretty solid evidence of heavy limescale deposits.No doubt my dishwasher, boiler and washing machine all have heavy limescale deposits after 15 years of hard water being used here.Now after 2 months, my kettle is still shiny, and no deposit surrounds the element as it did… [read more]

before. There are no scale deposits on the kitchen where it was most noticeable. Less soap is required for a lather sp saving will gradually pay off the outlay for the installation. The new plumbing to accommodate the new water softener unit and filter under the sink was installed neatly and offers the best compromise for operating the new kit and leaving as much of the cupboard free for storage as possible.Really happy with the results and would use Hayden again.

When my emersion heater failed last week I felt this was time to upgrade. Thanks to Our Local Expert I got Hayden’s number. He came the following day to investigate and talk through the options. He suggested that I get rid of the old water tank and replace it with a modern electric Ariston boiler. Incredibly, he could fit me in next day as he’d had a cancellation. Our Premier Compact water softener was installed almost 3 weeks ago – we can recommend Hayden as a first class plumber who managed to fit the unit into a very small area under our kitchen sink – the result is neater than the original plumbing and despite it taking longer than anticipated, he did not charge a penny more than his estimate. Some three years ago South West Water changed our water supply from the soft water from the River Exe and Wimbleball Reservoir to the moderately hard water of East Devon boreholes. Since then we have had to replace showers and taps at a cost of £650. We thought that it would not be possible to install a water softener in our property, but Hayden and the Little Plumbing Company overcame all of the obstacles and completed an excellent job. We have a private water supply and therefore a comprehensive filtration system in a separate building. In the kitchen we have a Reverse Osmosis system and it has been whining and making noises for some time. Installing the water softener was not straight forward but Hayden worked hard all day putting it in; taking a lot of time to make sure it was functioning correctly. He cleared up afterwards leaving our kitchen and the two cupboards spotless. The water softener is working well and we appreciate the difference it has made. We actually have soap bubbles now in the water and the scum on the basins has gone. The iron no longer puffs out dust and the kettle water is clear. It has been a very satisfactory installation.
