Andrew Seller listened to our ideas for replacing a dilapidated conservatory. He suggested design details which created a bright and airy new room and also by raising the floor to the interior floor height effectively is future proofing. He also was very helpful during the building process by liaising with the building contractor. We would highly recommend him to anyone planning their own project.

Completing Party Wall notices with Andrew has been an extremely smooth and positive experience. Living in London, online communication was excellent and always so prompt. Andrew talked us through the whole process in such a clear, professional and supportive way. I would definitely use Andrew again and highly recommend him to others.

Andrew drew up plans for an extension to our property – he was very responsive right from our first contact, responding quickly and clearly regarding any questions we had and always keeping us informed throughout the process. He made sensible suggestions regarding our project, and turned the work around quickly. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone requiring similar services. Thank you Andrew…

My project was conversion of a garage/outhouse to accommodate an additional toilet and utility room along with fairly difficult drainage arrangements and renewal of the large garage roof, re-pitched to accommodate solar panels.Searching on the internet for recommended professionals who could provide advice and prepare the necessary plans, I quickly found Andrew Seller, building engineer. I was struck by the very good reviews that he had received and had little hesitation in choosing him for my project. This decision was made even more straightforward when I met him and found his whole approach to be very friendly, helpful and practical…. [read more]These attributes continued to be shown throughout the development of the project. I can also now say with conviction that I heartily endorse the reviews that I had read and am now adding my own in the same vein! Our house is a Listed Building and so there were some additional constraints to be aware of during the design work and the planning submission. The service that Andrew was able to provide was very inclusive for all these aspects and he took care of everything regarding this, keeping me fully informed at all stages, with little or no input required from myself, as he liaised with the City Council. When I did have questions or suggestions to make, I found him always to be very patient and he would willingly spend any amount of time necessary on the phone, in person on site or by email correspondence. Some final but important points to emphasise are the high quality of Andrew’s work in the preparation of the design and specification of the project. His original site survey was meticulous, the drawings superb and any small modifications required carried out with ease and the Building Regulations Notes and his Design, Access and Heritage Statement all contributed to a smooth passage through the planning process.I think that, from start to finish, we could not have found a better service than that provided by Andrew.

Andrew handled every aspect of the planning application, from first visit and discussion of our expectations, to drawings, planning applications, dealing with neighbours comments and questions and finally what parts of the project required inspection from building regs’His easy going and friendly, yet professional attitude kept the complete process totally stress free.We would whole heartedly recommend Andrews services to anyone considering any type of building project whether it be large or small. We found his involvement from day one invaluable.

We were recommended party surveying by our builder who had used Andrew and worked with him before.Andrew is very friendly and approachable and came up with some great ideas and designs he also did research on the area which was a conservation area which meant we had to comply with everything in order to get planning on first application. We also had a issue with our neighbour which Andrew was able to resolve without me getting involved which meant no stress for me and avoided a potential dispute.Andrew definitely knows his stuff and came up with products and solutions to avoid… [read more]a party wall issue and I feel without his knowledge this could have escalated to cost a lot of unnecessary expense.Very friendly and reliable and made me feel he was putting me first as a client.

We engaged Andrew in September 2019 and cannot fault his work and commitment. From the moment we met him, Andrew has been honest and clear with his recommendations and views. Quite simply the whole process we have been through would have been a nightmare without Andrew, as he has both protected and led us through a maze of planning laws and requirements that would have been a struggle without him.He has always found time to reply promptly and in some detail to the many questions we have fired at him.We would have no hesitation in recommending Andrew to anybody requiring… [read more]surveying, planning or architectural advice.

Andrew is currently taaking care of our planning permission for the 2nd time (we decided on a complete redesign after we received the first permission). Don’t do that at home children! Our first application was very much delayed, partly due to Dorset’s chronic “overwork” aand partly due to my own inept way of dealing with them.Andrew rescued us the first time, and is steering things well this time. However, good as this work is, his real forte is the past experience he brings as a hands-on builder. This allows him to suggest all sorts of little improvements to the way things are… [read more]doine, which has a really worthwhile cumulative effect.Where would we be without him?!

I employed Andrew Seller (Chartered Building Engineer) to draw up specific plans that were required by Dorset’s Planning Department for the erection of a 20ft x 10ft greenhouse, the main problem being that the construction was to be placed in a stable yard but on a flood plain. Andrew’s excellent scale and plan drawings together with careful measurements for the completion of a flood risk assessment enabled the application to be accepted. Andrew’s work included 2 site visits: firstly to meet with me and view the site, take photographs and record measurements, a second site visit was needed to review… [read more]the application with a representative from Dorset’s Planning Department. As a result of the second site meeting Andrew was asked to refer to various documents on the Environment Agency’s website which was required by the planning department as further evidence before the application could be approved. This extra work – including the second site meeting – was over and above Andrew’s original fixed price specification, which in itself was very reasonable, but he completed this work at no extra charge. Andrew Seller’s experience (in the building trade and within planning) together with his expertise in satisfying planning applications ensures the customer receives a top quality service. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

For a planning application and approval in a conservation area. He was good for me – he was able to speak to EDDC in a way that didn’t irritate them (the way that I did it). I wanted approval for what seemed to me to be a very straightforward switch of windows from wooden sash to UPVC sash windows within a conservation area. I’ve never done anything through planning and I found it very frustrating. I would have used him in the first instance if I had known. Mr Sellers came up and did drawings, was able to speak to… [read more]the planners by email, within a month I got the approval. It cost £800 but it was money well spent. He was extremely efficient, came on the appointed date at the appointed time, worked quickly and turned it around very efficiently.

I brought him in to do structural calculations, but he delivered so much more with his overall advice, knowledge of the conservatory industry, and his contacts. This was enrichment to the service I had not expected which was brilliant. His work was of a very high standard and his insight in to the different options available to me, and how I could achieve them was invaluable.
