  Alan did a first class job fixing my toilet overflow problem. He was very friendly and polite. I thought I’d ask him if he had time to fix my leaky taps in my utility room, thinking he probably didn’t have the time, but he said he would. I highly recommend Alan to do a great job. He cleaned up well after himself and charged me £140. The quote for electric fire was £875.My old fire is now working and spotlessly clean – I am absolutely delighted with his attitude.   Alan arrived on time and attended to a leaky basin which we had been having trouble with since we moved in 2 months ago. He checked it first and then assessed the problem and then proceeded to collect his tools and get to work. He was quick and efficient and polite and professional.   Alan was brilliant, when my mother’s central heating stopped working. He was very busy but because she was elderly and on her own, he got to her as soon as he could and sorted the issue with the digital thermostat. He even called her the day after to make sure it was still okay. I live miles away and he kept me informed on what he had done. Absolute star.

  Hopelessly incompetent. He came to fix our boiler may times, and each time said it was working perfectly. It wasn’t. After we had spent over £700 on parts and labour we stopped phoning him and employed someone else, who pointed out that he had ordered the wrong part for it, but fitted it anyway. He left us with two rooms covered in soot, as well as the outside wall. There were even black fingerprints on the ceiling. We had to clean the floors 6 times to get them clean and redecorate both rooms and the outside wall of the house…. [read more]

  During the Covid19 lockdown he would go into our kitchen and borrow things, but not say what he had touched.

  Alan was surprised that this review was posted here (and on other websites) in December, for work on a boiler which took place in July.

  Repairs don’t always work first time, but Alan states he would never consider a job finished until he has the customer’s boiler working – as he believed he had done this time. Where he can’t get a boiler working he will explain this directly to the customer. Alan is upset that the customer didn’t go back to him directly if the repair wasn’t successful.
  Oil boilers can be messy, but Alan is very surprised in the customer’s claim that two rooms were covered in soot, and that the floor had to be cleaned 6 times and both rooms redecorated. Again, Alan is upset that the customer hasn’t discussed this complaint directly with him.
  Alan doesn’t recall borrowing anything from the kitchen – to his memory the only time he used the kitchen was to wash his hands in the kitchen sink.

  We have tried to mediate between the customer and the plumber, but the customer doesn’t want to progress the matter any further.

  I would strongly recommend Alan. We had major problems with a Micro bore central heating system where we had 6 radiators not working. Alan said he would be able to get them working with a deep flush. True to Alans word this was the case he arrived at 9.00am and left 22.30 he would not give up until all the rads were working properly and this was only achieved due to the equipment her had and his persistence.   Alan was punctual, clean and tidy. We had a repetitive loud noise from the boiler enough to wake the kids at night and have had two other plumbers (one changed the fan) but neither were able to diagnose the problem or suggest any way to solve the issue.Thanks to Alan we are now sorted and although it took some time to get to the nub of the problem our boiler is now running beautifully again.

  I cannot reccomend alan addicott highly enough!!. He saved me at least £2000 by repairing our combi boiler instead of telling us it was a right off like the other plumbers that saw the job. He was very skilled almost completely dismantled the boiler, found the leak checked all the bits to see what needed replacing, ordered them and was back the next day to put it together.   We have been calling on Alan when we need any plumbing work carried out for a number of years, including servicing our boiler. Today he has investigated an intermittent fault with our boiler, and as usual, he has taken the time to be thorough in his investigation, and has explained to me what he has done and why.   Thoroughly good experience -he changed the inlet valve on the bathroom cistern. Only plumber I have encountered who turns up with a wet vacuum to empty the tank completely first and stop water getting on the floor.   I would have no hesitation in calling Mr Addicott again, should the need arise, or in recommending him to anyone looking for a reliable plumbing specialist.   HIGHLY RECOMMEND! ] Came across A Addicott by chance and could not be happier. After being told I needed a replacement boiler and quoted £1200 I got a second opinion. A Addicott promptly returned my call and arranged to come and have a look. I was delighted that he could fix the boiler for a tenth of the cost of my original quote! I was also pleased that he had already got the part he suspected would need replacing in stock and was able to fix the problem straight away.   I found Alan in 2011 through the Trading Standards recommendations site when I needed a replacement boiler. He quoted one of the best prices and although all my radiators needed cleaning out the job was done efficiently with no mess. Other quotes had said each radiator would need to be taken off the walls for cleaning! My bungalow has never been so warm now and he comes each year to service my boiler. Pleasant, friendly chap that I would not hesitate to recommend if you want a well priced good job done.

  I had a nasty sound coming from my heating system. I called 2 different companies out of the yellow pages – both gave me a price over the phone. I invited one round who quoted £7,000 to replace the whole system.I then called Alan from Our Local Expert who came round to assess my problem before giving me a price. His solution solved the problem without the need for expensive replacements. He was polite, helpful, did the job and cleaned up after himself. I have already recommended him to my son.

  Removed gas fire to rescue a trapped pigeon.Alan was extremely helpful when i phoned him late on Friday evening with an emergency. A pigeon had somehow fallen down our chimney and was well and truly stuck . He called promptly and removed the gas fire and rescued the bird . Very professional helpful and efficient left everything clean and tidy, we have now arranged for him to carry out more work for us . And would recommend him to all.

  I had to call Alan (proprietor of A Addicott Plumbing & Heating). My call was dealt with quickly and a date booked to visit my home later in the week.
